Our Mission
It is determined as creating an equal and free world where women are not subjected to gender-based violence and discrimination. The concept of gender is a very broad and omnipresent concept. In this context, we are ready to be present in all areas that concern women.
Our Vision
To combat all forms of violence against women based on gender inequality in line with feminist principles, to strengthen and expand women's solidarity in the face of violence. Especially as a result of research, it has been determined that the majority of violence stems from gender norms. We aim to break down these norms and eliminate the authorizations given by gender.
The objectives of our association are as follows;
- Our association aims to support women in making their voices heard in all their problems,
- To reach all women wherever they are,
- To draw reactions against physical or social/psychological violence and to prevent such incidents from occurring in societies,
- To ensure the elimination of discrimination between women and men in all areas,
- To support women in their professional lives and careers,
- To emphasize the importance of shared consciousness of womanhood in the struggle against male domination,
- To cooperate at local, national and international level to eliminate violence against women,
- To work with non-violent methods and exploring new ways in which everyone can better express themselves,
- To support women's personal development,
- To enable women to build face-to-face and intimate relationships and to raise awareness of their shared condition of womanhood,
- We do not see ourselves as "rescued" and "savior" women; we do not aim to rescue women who are subjected to violence, but to build mutual solidarity and become stronger together. However, as Venus Women's Rights Association, we strongly oppose any kind of discrimination based on identity elements such as age, ethnic identity, language, disability status, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial status, political opinion, religious belief and we aim to stand side by side with all our diversity in all the work carried out in the association and not to fall into any discrimination within ourselves.
As Venus Women's Rights Association, we continue our activities for special days such as March 8, International Women's Day and November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, with the support of local people participating in our network work, brainstorming, and producing various written and visual materials together.
Our staff conducted a workshop under the title of "Gender". In the workshop, opinions on gender discrimination, sexual roles and gender perception were conveyed to the local community members through a narrated example. The concept of gender is a very effective power and that women first learn it from the family; gender is linked to religion and power and that gender feeds from these sources. Finally, in the workshop; noting that the subordinate position of women is supported by laws, it was underlined that "gender must be broken by women, women must get rid of being subordinate, they must insist on their demands, they must exist with their own identities and demands, otherwise they cannot go beyond being a showcase, a favored entity.”
Our staff prepared and implemented a workshop program called "Leading Women at Work for Innovation and Change", in which young women between the ages of 19-28 were trained on Gender Equality, shown theoretical and practical ways to become leaders in their chosen professions, and thus facilitated their participation in working life.
Our association organized a seminar titled "Women and Men Hand in Hand, With Love Not Violence". People from the local community participated in the seminar. In the seminar, information was given on the need to transition from a single-earner household model to a dual-earner household model.
We organize online training courses with our key personnel every 2 months under the titles of “How to manage social media tools” and “How to use E-Commerce sites.” Housewives, working women, and students participate in training activities.
We participate in Erasmus+ KA1, KA2 writing training courses with our staff. We have participated in Erasmus+ projects covering the topics of minorities, digital skills, green skills, gender equality and our key staff members have undertaken separate tasks.
